- Restructuring success: Around half of all non-strategic activities already sold
Conergy AG has parted company with the solar heating business of its wholly-owned SunTechnics subsidiary in Belgium. Thus, the Conergy Group has now disposed of around half of its non-strategic activities, and with its focus is now well on the way to becoming a fully integrated provider in the solar power business. Conergy CEO Dieter Ammer says: "The sale of SunTechnics Belgium is an important milestone in our repositioning in the high-growth photovoltaics market. It makes clear just how rigorously we are progressing with the restructuring of the group. But at the same time, it also demonstrates that there is still quite a bit of work ahead of us, which we will continue to tackle with all the necessary firmness and determination."
The sale includes the main registered office of SunTechnics nv in Lille, as well as a further branch in Perwez, Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium. Gie Verbunt, the former CEO of SunTechnics Belgium, and former SunTechnics employees Marc Aertsen, Steven van Dyck, Frederic Bossaert and Nicole Hemeleers are taking over the branches within the scope of a management buyout. "We are delighted about the rapid acquisition of the business division, and plan to continue the operational business successfully in the future, preserving all the jobs," says Verbunt.
With this transaction, Conergy is selling the fourth company from the area of so-called non-strategic activities. This is another important step for the Group in the process of becoming a focused provider in the solar power sector. At the end of February the Hamburg-based solar group disposed of two solar heating companies in Belgium and the Netherlands. In March, Conergy also sold its solar heating production facility in Austria. |
