-Europe’s largest solar energy company supplies customers all over the world from Zweibrücken
Hamburg. Just 12 months after construction began, Hamburg-based Conergy AG, listed on the stock exchange, has completed the move of its logistics and service departments to its new European distribution and logistics centre. The sales and customer support staff moved into their new offices in the 30,000 m² building complex in Zweibrücken (Rhineland-Palatinate) last week. These were the last of the 100-odd Conergy employees who were previously employed in the five external depots nearby Sulzbach to take up their work at the new location.
The new logistics centre not only combines these depots under one roof, but also guarantees even better service for customers of the photovoltaics specialist with its cutting-edge technology and shortened turnaround times.
“We are very pleased that we stayed precisely on schedule at every phase of this project, from the ground-breaking right up to the move of the last employees. We owe thanks not only to our partners but of course to the town of Zweibrücken too, which has supported us every step of the way,” says Ingo Dahlmann, project manager at Conergy.
Up to 1,000 different items over 25,000 m²
Conergy began supplying its European customers from its new logistics centre in Zweibrücken last November. The eight-metre high storage racks can store up to 1,000 different items over 25,000 m² that are daily assigned to the approximately 500 order positions by a state-of-the-art warehouse management system. Around a third of the distribution depot is devoted to incoming goods, order-picking and goods issue. An average of 30 truckloads of the very latest components for tapping solar energy arrive and leave through its 19 loading ramps every day.
“To offer more and more customers perfect service as Conergy AG continues to grow, we plan to hire additional staff in the medium term. Its proximity not only to the core European markets, but also to Zweibrücken Airport and motorways, provide an excellent setting for the logistics centre,” says Dahlmann.
Conergy will close more small warehouses in Germany in the coming weeks and move them to the logistics centre in Zweibrücken. |
