Conergy IPG 300K: Even more power through transformerless technology

13 March 2008

With the Conergy IPG 300K, Conergy is extending its IPG series of inverters. The new central inverter with an AC output of 270 kW does not require low-voltage transformers. As a result, the Conergy IPG 300K attains an extremely high top efficiency of 97.0 % and a European efficiency of 96.5 %. The central inverter works directly on an external medium-high voltage transformer, which also ensures galvanic isolation without low-voltage transformers. This means that the inverter can also be deployed in a plant with thin-film modules.

Thanks to the transformerless technology, a weight of only around 1,540 kg is possible, coupled with a substantial cost savings compared with conventional central inverters of this output class. At the same time, the new inverter incorporates all the advantages of the proven Conergy IPG series of inverters, thousands of which are already deployed worldwide. The high maximum input voltage of 965 V allows the modules to be interconnected to form long and highly-efficient strings, while the system configuration is clear and maintenance friendly. In addition, the high-speed MPP tracking system achieves a degree of accuracy of over 99 % and the electricity generated has an ideal feed-in quality, with a distortion factor of less than 2 %.

Like all inverters from Conergy, the Conergy IPG 300K has also been thoroughly tested. The robustness of its design has been demonstrated, for instance, by performing an endurance test under nominal capacity at maximum ambient temperature in a climate chamber. Needless to say, the Conergy IPG 300K also bears the CE and GS marks.

Trend towards central inverters with higher output classes

The Conergy IPG 300K is perfectly suited to the needs of operators of large photovoltaic plants in the European photovoltaic markets, as well as in Korea. In Spain, in the wake of the restructuring of the Decreto Real, which governs the Spanish fixed feed-in tariffs, the preference for 100 kW systems is expected to be lifted, with the result that in the future there will also be a growing demand for inverters in higher output classes here as well.

Further systems in the Conergy IPG series are the Conergy IPG 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 string inverters, as well as the Conergy IPG 60K, 80K, 100K, 110K and 280K central inverters.

“Extending our production capacities enables us to respond very quickly to changing developments on the market”, explains Steffen Elster, Head of Product Management for Large PV Systems at Conergy AG. “We are experiencing rapidly-growing demand for the Conergy IPG 110K, in particular. In spite of the tense market situation, we can generally deliver within six weeks”, continues Elster.

Besides inverters, Conergy has manufacturing expertise at its command for all the other components required to construct a photovoltaic power plant. The combination of the Conergy SolarOptimus tracking system, the Conergy SmartConnect connection box and the Conergy SmartControl monitoring system guarantees perfect interaction and ensures maximum plant efficiency for photovoltaic plant operators.

The Conergy IPG 300K will be available for ordering from March. For further information on this product, please visit www.conergy.de or write to pvpowerplant@conergy.de.
